Dream Come True The Sclub7 story begins in 1998 when ex-manager of the Spice Girls, Simon Fuller took on a number of talent scouts to search for a 5 piece band. Talent spotters when to every theatre school, club and holiday camp across britain. The audition stages lasted 8 months and by the end of 1998, 7, not 5 as originally planned, excited wannabes recruited. The first to be taken on were Paul, Jon and Hannah. Hannah and Paul already new each other from attending the National Youth Music Theatre. After successfully auditioning for sclub7, Hannah gave up her A level courses. Jon too answered the audition call and says "I went along, but didn't really know much about it." Shortley afterwards, he was the third recruit for a new band.
Rachel's story sounds very much like a case of being in the right place at the right time. She was working in fashion, and one day she went to meet her brother for lunch. While waiting outside his block, two men approached and asked if she could sing. Rachel replied positively and before she knew it, she tried out for Sclub7 and got in! Bradley was one of the last to join, however he has always been involed with music. "Before sclub7, i was in a band called Krisp with my sister and cousin and also a rap band, although i wasn't very good at it!" Bradley found his way into Sclub7 by recording some sample tracks and sending them to 19 management. Bradley sincerely believes his being successful at the Sclub audition is proof that, "if you want something bad enough, you have to go for it." Like Brad, when Jo met with sclub7 she had plenty of performing experience. "I've been singing since i was 13. I never had any voice training, i just taught myself, spending hours in my bedroom when i was young." Jo was briefly in a band called Solid HarmoniE, then had a top 40 hit in Germany with 2.4 family. She was singing country and western in a bar in a bar alongside Kele Le Rock when she was spotted by a producer and asked to audition for Sclub7. Different from Tina, she was spotted on the TV on T.O.T.P as a backgroups singer and dancer, and was asked if she was interested to audition for Sclub7, as soon as they heard her demo, they were pleased and made Tina a new recruit to Sclub7.
With the 7 in place, Paul says they all got on well from the outset, "but we did have to break the ice." Jo recognised early that each of her fellow band members had an individual talent. "Everyone had something they specialised in," she said"...some are stronger singers, some actors and some dancers." It was time to put this new band to the test and they successfully started recording and producing new sensational songs!
